wanna use tooltips on your page?
there are some code snippets for doing it or you get the jquery.tooltips plugin which offers more functionality. this plugin depends on the dimensions plugin, btw.

jQuery.Hotkeys plugin lets you easily add and remove handlers for keyboard events anywhere in your code supporting almost any key combination. It takes one line of code to bind/unbind a hot key combination.
i used the swf object over at YourTubeMix. next time i will take a look at jquery’s new plugin: jQuery SWFObject Plugin .
have you every used the automatic upgrade plugin for wordpress?
if so, would you recommend it?
i am hesitating using it. it just could break so much…
by the way: i just upgraded (manually) to the latest wordpress version (Wordpress Dev Blog Feed).
i was looking for a nice way using intervals / timers in my project. i am quite happy about finding a jQuery Plugin called “jQuery Timers” by a guy called Blair Mitchelmore (Blog), since nearly the whole project is based on YouTube APIs and jQuery anyway.
the plugin is licensed under the WTFPL – Do What The Fuck You Want To Public License, which i never heard of before.

a big role in the project plays the ui.jquery library. wanna know what’s all about jQuery and ui.jQuery? i read an informative post in the ui newsgroup.

my wishlist:
they say that this is helping the environment because you don’t need to jump in a plane and fly to a meeting. but why is it than, that you are not allowed to do multi user conferences with video? i guess this should be the next step. but i am sure they are already working on that.
if you want to initiate a second video chat you will get the message “You are already in a video chat“.
anyways, great improvement. i am suing gmail since the early betas and enjoy it more than those email apps like thunderbird, outlook, apple mail or so.

i just started working on my new university project (more about this soon). i am doing a lot of stuff in javascript and wanted to let you know about firebug’s console. it’s great for debugging js stuff.
Google announced that it is now possible to use their GoogleEarth Application through a browser plugin. it comes with some handsome APIs and features. the supported browsers are IE6, IE7 and Firefox 2.x but unfortunately windows only.
hopefully it won’t take them too long to implement it for the other operating systems out there. Read the rest of this entry »

seit der veröffentlichung des artikels “the internet is for porn” werden die kommentare regelmässig (in letzter zeit in immer kleineren abständen) von bots âla sten12345 und jaqueline45678 voll gespamt.
damit dies endlich ein ende hat, und ich mir die zusätzlichen 10 klicks am tag sparen kann, habe ich nun akismet aktiviert.
Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web serivce to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use this service. You can review the spam it catches under “Manage” and it automatically deletes old spam after 15 days.
die nötige regestrierung für den wordpress api key ging recht schnell über die bühne. der spamfilter ist echt gut. alleine heute schon ~20 spams gecacht.
ich würde es immer wieder tun!

wenn man, wie robert basic, mit richtig vielen spam kommentaren zu kämpfen hat, werden wohl auch ein paar nicht-spam-kommentare gefiltert, was natürlich lästiges geklicke zu folge hat. WP – SpamViewer soll bei der überprüfung ob ein als spam deklariertes kommentar nun wirklich spam ist – zumindest grafisch – unter die arme greifen.
komme grad aus der fh und lese in etlichen artikeln (z.b. bei efa) meines googlereaders bzw. gmail accounts, dass ich doch bitte das webdeveloper plugin und konsorten deinstallieren und das neue super tolle firebug plugin installieren solle.

der autor des adult webmaster blogs (nein, nix porno!) hat ein schickes wordpress plugin zum unkomplizierten einbinden von video files via googlevideo, youtube und konsorten geschrieben. ich nutze dieses plugin inzwischen auch, da mein wordpress in sachen eingebetteten videos immer ärger machte.
mit folgender zeile wird das video in den blogeintrag integriert:
